Bountiful, Utah

Bountiful is located on the eastern shore of the Great Salt Lake, just 10 miles (16 kilometers) north of Salt Lake City. It is part of Davis County, and home to 41,301 residents. There is some debate as to how the city got its name. One tradition says that Bountiful was named for the community's rich harvests, while another argues it was named after an ancient city in the Book of Mormon.

The Great Salt Lake and the Rocky Mountains provide a variety of opportunities for outdoor recreation, such as rafting, boating, and horseback riding. In addition to hiking and wildlife-viewing, the mountains are also a paradise for downhill skiers. Four world-class ski resorts and a half-dozen ski hills ensure that skiers and snowboarders of all levels will have a great time on the slopes.

Bountiful also has a lively arts and culture scene. The Bountiful/Davis Art Center hosts exhibitions, quarterly arts classes, and Summerfest International. This multi-cultural art and folk dance festival features performers from many countries, an arts and crafts fair, exotic foods, and a host of other attractions. The Bountiful Performing Arts Center produces great musicals and comedies, while the Davis Arts Council is responsible for concerts, free movie screenings, art in the park, a Renaissance Fair, and other community events.
