The town of Brookline is located in eastern Massachusetts, just five miles (eight kilometers) south of Cambridge and five miles (eight kilometers) southwest of Boston. It is part of Norfolk County, and is home to 57,107 residents. Brookline was once known as the "Town of Millionaires," and the community's impressive roster of former residents include President John F. Kennedy, landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, poet Amy Lowell, and TV personality Barbara Walters. Not surprisingly, one of Brookline's most famous attractions is the John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site. The birthplace of one of America's most beloved presidents was restored to its 1917 appearance by the president's mother, and each year thousands of visitors come to tour the house and the surrounding neighborhood. Brookline is also home to the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site. Although the park portion is closed for construction until 2010, visitors can still participate in interpretive programs or conduct research in the Olmsted Archives. Another one of the city's cultural gem is the Larz Anderson Auto Museum (formerly the Museum of Transportation). Here visitors can view an impressive collection of antique automobiles and enjoy a walking tour of the beautiful Larz Anderson Park. Want to unleash your creative side? The Brookline Arts Center and the Brookline Music School offer a variety of classes for residents of all ages, while the Brookline Smart Summers Theater Arts Program gives children the chance to be a create and star in their own musical. For a great evening's entertainment, enjoy a performance by Prism Opera or the Coolidge Corner Community Chorus. Once the home of visionaries, celebrities, and JFK, Brookline may be the ideal place for you too! See our 1 Job in Brookline, Massachusetts Websites for this CityGovernment:
