The city of Buffalo is located in western New York, 69 miles (111 kilometers) west of Rochester, 96 miles (155 kilometers) northeast of Erie, Pennsylvania, and 98 miles (158 kilometers) south of Toronto, Ontario. It is the county seat of Erie County, and home to 292,648 residents. Buffalo is situated on the shore of Lake Erie.

A popular attraction is the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park, a waterfront museum that features a World War II submarine, a guided missile cruiser, aircraft, and more. Another great family attraction is the Buffalo Zoo. Local museums include the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, the Music Hall of Fame, and the outstanding Buffalo Museum of Science.
