Did you know that Detroit is a city whose history has had a tremendous impact on the progression of American culture? Its position in automotive history is unparalleled and it's the birthplace of the Motown sound! And the innovation is not over – downtown development continues, and Detroit is a great place to visit, work, and live. You will never be bored in Detroit, because this booming city can accommodate anyone's interests. Into sports? No problem! You've got the Pistons, the Lions, the Red Wings, and the Tigers. And did you know that Comerica Park, where the Tigers play, is no ordinary ballpark. It's combination of theme park, baseball museum, and ballpark. It has a Ferris wheel, carousel (with tigers, of course), and a fountain that celebrates each home run with colored lights and music. Or maybe you're into cultural pursuits? There are many museums, such as the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Museum of African American History, the Detroit Historical Museum, and The Henry Ford/Greenfield Village. Or for performing arts, head to the symphony, or the opera, or take in a show at one of the theaters, such as the Detroit Repertory Theatre, the Gem and Century Theatres, and The Music Hall. Afterwards, you'll want something to eat at one of the city's hundreds of restaurants. You won't be at a loss for festivals, either. Of course, perhaps the best is the Detroit International Jazz Festival, held in September – after all, what's Detroit without jazz? While all kids would be happy with at least a few of the above outing opportunities, there are a few more that they won't want to miss. I'd guess that places like the Detroit Zoo would be on their must-see lists. (And both your big and little kids – particularly the boys – will enjoy the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America!) Feel like a little road trip? Just a drive through the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel or a hop across the Ambassador Bridge over the St. Clair River, and you're in Windsor, Ontario. Detroit is an expanding, diverse city that accommodates to anyone's tastes and flavors! Detroit is definitely the place to be! See our 11 Jobs in Detroit, Michigan Websites for this CityGovernment:
