Fort Bragg, North Carolina

Fort Bragg is an military base in North Carolina, located 11 miles (18 kilometers) northwest of Fayetteville. It is home to the 82nd Airborne Division, the XVIII Airborne Corps, the US Army Special Operations Command, and the US Army Parachute Team. The Womack Army Medical Center is Fort Bragg's main medical facility. Additional healthcare is provided by the 44th Medical Command, and dental services are provided by the 257th Medical Company.

Curious about the history of the Airborne Corps and Special Operations? Then visit the JFK Special Warfare Museum, the 82nd Airborne Division Museum, and the Airborne and Special Operations Museum. You can learn about the natural and cultural history of the region at the Fort Bragg Cultural Resources, which manages a collection of artifacts dating from the Ice Age to the mid-twentieth century.

Ready for some fun? Then check out the many activities offered through the Morale, Welfare, Recreation (MWR) division, ranging from movies to summer camps. On-site recreational facilities include two golf courses, swimming pools, an ice rink, fitness centers, bowling lanes and more. The Youth Activity Center is a great hangout for children and teens, and offers everything from swimming and karate to games and music rooms. The Smith Lake Recreation Area makes a great weekend getaway, and features a swimming beach, hiking and horseback riding trails, and cozy cabins for overnight guests.
