Still, the community has also seen a revival in recent years of the culture of the local Gwich'in people. You can visit the nearby Nitainlaii Territorial Park to see displays of their rich heritage. You can also check out the Tetlit Gwich'in Territorial Park, a large natural reserve that overlooks the massive Richardson Mountains and the Mackenzie River. For an even closer look at Gwich'in culture, enjoy the Midway Lake Festival, a musical celebration featuring Gwich'in singing, dancing, and fiddling.

Of course, the most unique aspect of life in the Arctic is the snowy climate. Fort McPherson is a great place to try a night in an igloo or a voyage with a dogsled team. With spectacular views of the aurora borealis and the never-ending tundra, living in Fort McPherson is an experience you'll never forget.
