North Battleford, Saskatchewan

Located approximately 140 kilometers (87 miles) northwest of Saskatoon, North Battleford lies at the confluence of the Battle and North Saskatchewan Rivers. Established in 1905, North Battleford quickly developed alongside the neighboring community of Battleford. Together, they are known as the Battlefords.

Despite only being incorporated as a city in the early 20th century, the Battlefords have a long and varied past, dating back to the late 18th century and the establishment of a local fur-trading outpost. From temporarily serving as headquarters for the Northwest Mounted Police and as the (then) Capital of the Northwest Territories, the region has served a variety of different purposes over the years.

Today, while business primarily focuses upon servicing the agriculture and oil industries, numerous visitors to the region have also sparked a thriving tourism market. Combing a friendly prairie atmosphere with a variety of four season activities, the Battlefords represent Saskatchewan's fifth-largest metropolitan area, though its population is only 13,692 in North Battleford plus 3,820 in Battleford. With attractions including local museums, galleries, theaters, a casino, and Saskatchewan's oldest hotel, The Queen's Hotel, something exciting is always happening in the Battlefords. For native art enthusiasts, the Allen Sapp Gallery is located in Battleford. Numerous festivals, a rodeo, and opportunities for outdoor adventure also provide an abundance of entertainment possibilities. Ski, hike, paddle, golf, and bike in Battleford Provincial Park and Table Mountain Regional Park.

Poised at the heart of economic development, North Battleford and Battleford are rapidly becoming north central Saskatchewan's business center. From the newly constructed King Station Shopping center to increasing hotel and convention facilities, many businesses are beginning to see the benefit of locating their operations in Saskatchewan. An affordable real estate market and numerous recreational opportunities make the area an attractive location for personal relocation.
