The giant Lone Star State of Texas offers a variety of terrains for the outdoor enthusiast, from plains to prairies and from hills to coastline. Some fast facts – the popular soda Dr Pepper was also invented here in 1885. Austin is considered the live music capital of the world. Three of the country's most populous cities are in Texas: Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio.

There's the Houston Theater District, which is home to eight major performing arts organizations: Alley Theatre; Broadway in Houston; Da Camera of Houston; Houston Ballet; Houston Grand Opera; Houston Symphony; Society for the Performing Arts; and Theatre Under The Stars. And in Arlington, there's Metropolitan Classical Ballet, the New Symphony of Arlington, and Theatre Arlington. And in Dallas, look for performances from such groups as the Dallas Opera, Dallas Symphony, Dallas Wind Symphony, The Junior Players, Pegasus Theatre, Pocket Sandwich Theatre, Shakespeare Festival of Dallas, Teatro Dallas, TITAS (Texas International Theatrical Arts Society) – the list goes on!
