About the Calgary Health Region The Calgary Health Region is the largest fully integrated, publicly-funded health care system in Canada. Serving a population of over one million people, the Region is home to some of the fastest growing communities in the country. The integration of health care services means that all services, such as hospital care, community health and mental health, are coordinated under one continuous system, which ensures that patients receive the right care at the right time in the right place. The Calgary Health Region serves the city of Calgary as well as a constellation of smaller communities. These include the world famous resort communities of Banff, Canmore and Lake Louise, as well as numerous rural communities stretching from the mountains to the prairies. More than 23,000 staff and 2,000 physicians provide services in over 100 locations, including 12 hospitals, two comprehensive health centres, 38 care centres, and a variety of community and continuing care sites.
