Kaiser Permanente - Northern California

For nearly 60 years, the name Kaiser Permanente has stood for excellence in health care services. In a single year, we schedule more than 32 million outpatient visits, deliver 90,000 babies, thanks to the dedication of some 147,000 employees and physicians.

Quality of Care
We are driven by the needs of our members and our responsibility to the many communities we serve. As a nonprofit organization, our physicians and staff are focused on the delivery of high-quality health care and services, rather than short-term stockholder demands.

Progressive Work Environment
At Kaiser Permanente, our emphasis is on improving the quality of care we provide to our patients and creating a positive environment for our health care professionals. Our employees enjoy the advantages of a supportive work culture, substantial compensation and benefits, and excellent opportunities for professional growth.

Northern California is a place of dramatic contrasts: snow-capped Sierras, the rugged coastline of Big Sur, and the cosmopolitan city of San Francisco. It also includes the Sacramento area and the Central Valley. The region offers a myriad of lifestyles, as well as educational, cultural, and recreational options, making the area one of the country's most exciting places to live and to work.

Our Northern California Region provides integrated health care services to approximately 3.1 million members. Approximately 4,400 physicians of The Permanente Medical Group provide services at 17 medical centers and numerous medical offices.

Kaiser Permanente had its beginnings in Northern California during World War II as a prepaid health care program, serving workers at Kaiser-managed shipyards in Richmond, California. At the end of the war, the program was opened to the community in response to the requests of workers and participating physicians who wanted to continue the prepaid group practice.
