WAGES: Dependent upon qualifications, and experience HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services & Chief Nursing Officer, the Manager of Patient Care is responsible to provide leadership in facilitating quality patient care. Effective communication skills are integral and essential to this leadership role. The Manager of Patient Care is accountable for the effective management of the patient care for the unit and programs including the human, material and financial resources. The Manager of Patient Care's role is to promote optimum patient care in a therapeutic safe environment. The essential components of this first line management position are practice, administration, education and research. The functions and responsibilities of the position are executed within the context of unit, program, corporate, and regional goals. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: • Baccalaureate Degree in a relevant health care profession or related experience in the health care field. • Current registration or eligibility for registration, with the appropriate professional association required. • Current BCLS certification required. • An equivalent combination of education and experience as recognized by the Centre may be considered. • Minimum three years current, relevant clinical experience and must have three years of management experience. • Sound knowledge & understanding of evidence based practice. • General knowledge of regulations & scope of practice documents that guide nursing. • Working knowledge of legislative acts governing health care. • Demonstrated ability to critically think, analyze, conceptualize & apply relevant knowledge to practice. • Expert organizational, interpersonal, problem solving & decision making skills. • Demonstrated leadership skills in an interdisciplinary team environment. • Ability to work independently within an interdisciplinary context. • Effective oral and written communication skills • Ability to facilitate staff working to the professional expectations of practice. • Ability to facilitate education through the principles of teaching adult learners. • Ability to communicate effectively with programs, disciplines, and other administrative directors. • Ability to work with minimal direction. • Ability to function in a computerized environment. • Knowledge of budgets and financial reporting systems. • Mental and physical health to meet the demands of position. • This position will be subject to a Child Abuse and Criminal Record Checks Please forward cover letter, resume and references to: Director, Human Resources Churchill Regional Health Authority Box 2500 Churchill, Manitoba R0B 0E0 Fax: 1-204-675-2243 E:mail: human resources @churchillrha.mb.ca Posting
