Regular Full-time British Columbia Cancer Agency Vancouver, BC The BC Cancer Agency (BCCA) is committed to reducing the incidence of cancer, reducing the mortality from cancer, and improving the quality of life of those living with cancer. It provides a comprehensive cancer control program for the people of British Columbia by working with community partners to deliver a range of cancer services, including prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment, research, education, supportive care, rehabilitation and palliative care. It operates five regional cancer centres in Surrey, Kelowna, Vancouver, Vancouver Island, and Abbotsford, with a sixth centre scheduled to open in Prince George in 2012. The BC Cancer Agency's Research Centre conducts research into the causes and cures for cancer. BCCA is an agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) which plans, manages and evaluates selected specialty and province-wide health care services across BC, working with the five geographic health authorities to deliver province wide solutions that improve the health of British Columbians. Program Manager, Family & Community Oncology Regular Full-time British Columbia Cancer Agency Vancouver, BC Would you like to play a primary role in ensuring excellent services for everyone, by identifying key issues and developing new programs to mitigate any cancer control inequalities across our Province? How about strengthening linkages between community-based care service and more specialized cancer services, to improve population-based cancer control in BC, and contribute to its development across Canada and internationally? If yes, this is the chance to capitalize on your vision for, and experience relevant to, cancer control. You will be empowered to develop short- and long-term plans that make the most of your scientific and technical knowhow, and provide operational leadership, financial and human resources management. You'll facilitate collaboration among various groups and partners who make decisions on strategy, funding, plans, policies and the implementation of programs that will help the Family and Community Oncology Program achieve its mandate. Take the lead and expedite program initiatives by correspondence, teleconferences, or convening meetings. Liaise with the Ministry of Health, PHSA and others in BC, with national bodies in Canada, and with international groups, in developing and implementing proposals for program development, and influence and persuade others within and outside the Agency to support the Family & Community Oncology Program. Present reports at conferences and key meetings, and by publication in scientific journals. We are looking for a Master's or Doctoral degree in a scientific or health discipline and at least five years of relevant experience, ideally with knowledge of cancer issues, epidemiology and public health, statistical methods, and Canadian health care systems. You must be an accomplished, strategic thinker who can identify key issues; plan, coordinate and develop proposals; and implement new concepts and initiatives. You must be able to complete projects throughout the Province, and produce regular progress reports and presentations for BC Health Authorities and other stakeholders. Expertise in assessing scientific literature, preparing structured reviews and presenting scientific reports is essential. Computer proficiency is also a must.
