hospital located in Providence, RI. The Miriam Hospital
is the FIRST Magnet Hospital in RI and has been awarded
the Magnet award for Nursing excellence for the third
time in 2006.
The Miriam is completing the construction of a new patient care services building which will hold a new medical surgical unit as well as new operating rooms, MRI and more. The new medical surgical unit will have a population of post-operative patients. All 36 rooms will be private, and specifically designed for a positive patient experience and a work environment that supports the needs of the Nurses and other staff who provide direct patient care. The Nurse Mgr position is responsible for translating and supporting the goals, objectives, policies and procedures of the Nursing Department into action within the framework of the Hospital's and Lifespan's mission and vision statements. Maintains the standards of nursing practice through the delivery of primary nursing and case management on one or more designated patient care units. Has the delegated authority to make decisions in the areas of patient care delivery, human resource management and budgetary development and compliance. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age specific needs of the patients. Manager has 24-hour accountability 7 days per week for a specified patient care area. The Nurse Manager reports to the Director of In patient Nursing. Qualified candidates are required to have a Master's Degree or are currently matriculating in a Masters Degree program. Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of RI is also required. In addition three or more years of progressively responsible clinical experience and demonstrated basic management skills.
