Description:

Under general supervision
of the Hospital Attending Physician, in collaboration
with clinical nursing staff, is responsible for evaluation
of, and development of treatment plans for the inpatients.
Assists in the care and management of medical patients
to include, but not limited to, admission history and
physical, ongoing assessment and intervention, coordination
or inpatient, and discharge planning. All essential
functions performed in this position reflect the age
specific needs of the patient. Fosters patient and
family centered care and nursing services with the
Lifespan and The Miriam Hospital's mission, vision,
values with consideration of the life span, including
all development stages as well as cultural patterns.
Qualifications
Graduate
from a Nurse Practitioner program with MS degree. Certified
by the American Nurses Association (ANA) or by the
American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) to practice
in the expanded role. License must include prescriptive
privileges. Completion of a course in American Heart
Association Basic Life Support/Advanced Cardiac Life
Support.
The Nurse Practitioner will see in house
patients in the Stroke Center at TMH. A special interest
and/or 3 years experience in Neurology is preferred.
Should posses the ability to respond and evaluate patients
for stroke treatment.
Successful completion
of supervised three month clinical internship or equivalent
in clinically intensive atmosphere (hospital) preferably
in the area of Internal Medicine.
