St. Joseph's is home to: the internationally renowned Barrow Neurological Institute; St. Joseph's Children's Health Center, which is the second largest provider of comprehensive pediatric services in the state; The Heart & Lung Institute at St. Joseph's; and St. Joseph's Trauma Center, which is the only Level 1 trauma center in Arizona that's verified by the American College of Surgeons. St. Joseph's continues to expand and enhance its services to meet the growing needs of the community by providing comprehensive neurological, neurosurgical, pediatric, perinatal, cardiac, thoracic, and cancer care. Founded in 1895 by the Sisters of Mercy, St. Joseph's continues to help the underserved through clinics, community grants and outreach programs. POSITION REQUIREMENTS The Genetic Counselor position enhances the diagnosis, medical management and emotional adjustment of individuals and families with genetic disorders and congenital anomalies. Primary responsibility is the counseling of assigned affected clients under the supervision of the Medical Director of Genetics, including, but not limited to clinical care of pediatric and adult patients referred for out-patient genetic evaluation. This position will also support the members of the St. Joseph's Neurogenetics Team, Barrow's Neurological Institute Craniofacial Team, and participate in other subspecialty clinics including neurofibromatosis, tuberous sclerosis, spina bifida, metabolic and sickle cell clinics. The metabolic service follows a high volume of patients in weekly metabolic clinics. In addition, we have a large lysosomal storage disease treatment center. REQUIREMENTS: Eligible candidates must be BC/BE in genetic counseling.
