Job Details: Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit / Critical Care Unit (ICU/CCU)

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse responsible for the coordination of patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The RN is responsible for prescribing, delegating and evaluating the holistic nursing care rendered. As a professional, the RN is responsible to contribute to the smooth operation of the nursing unit and for development of self and others by being a role model and providing leadership.


Qualifications

1. Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of two years education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse required.

2. Currently licensed in the State of Tennessee or Compact State as a Registered Nurse and in good standing.

3. On the job experience as determined by work area (6 weeks-6 months) in order to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of unit and departmental policies and procedures and to fulfill established quality and quantity standards for the job.

4. Interpersonal skills necessary to instruct and comfort patients and their families, and maintain contacts with a variety of hospital personnel. Recognizes and reinforces positive efforts of the health care team/co-workers. Addresses issues in a tactful and timely manner.

5. Analytical skills necessary to prepare patient plans of care, implement effective nursing care and develop solutions to problems concerning patients’ mental or physical well-being.

6. For specialty areas prior experience preferred.
