Description:
The University of Maryland Medical Center,
Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking a Operations
Manager. The department consists of five integrated
centers with seven linear accelerators, five CT simulators,
and a daily census of over 180 patients.
Working closely with the Vice President, Patient Care Services, Department Chair and Clinical Director; manages daily technical operations of the department at UMMC and Community Center Sites, oversees the development and implementation of policies, procedures, performance standards and objectives for the treatment of patients; evaluates performance and maintains performance improvement standards/records; coordinates radiation oncology services with other Medical System departments to provide maximum level of total care for patients in accordance with UMMS philosophy and objectives. The Operations Manager will also participate in contract negotiations, capital equipment procurement, and other major departmental projects. REQUIREMENTS 1. A baccalaureate degree Health Care Administration or related field is required. Master's degree in Business or health Administration preferred. 2. A minimum of five years progressively responsible professional experience performing operations management functions. In addition, a minimum of five years supervisory/management experience is required. 3. Proficient knowledge of radiation oncology techniques and practices, purchasing and inventory control, budget management and personnel management. 4. Proficient organization and problem solving skills are required to develop/ implement efficient work processes, and to successfully resolve difficult, conflict-oriented situations. 5. Demonstrated effectiveness in supervising/managing, monitoring daily work activities, evaluating, training and motivating performance of subordinate technical, professional, supervisory and clerical support staff. 6. Ability to successfully perform the responsibilities of the position within a stressful work environment demonstrating a positive and professional work ethic. 7. Ability to occasionally work with patients possessing potentially infectious disease using the appropriate 'Universal Precautions' and other safety procedures. 8. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary to work with radiation oncology staff, patients, various hospital supervisory, clinical staff and outside agencies.
